The theme of the Conference was "Towards Next-Generation Data-Driven Science 2019 Programme". The conference took place at the Friendship Hotel, Beijing, 19-20 September, 2019. The keynote presentations explored advances in Big Earth Data; the role of data science to support the UN landmark agreements (on the Climate Crisis, Sustainable Development Goals and Disaster Risk Reduction; the role of UNESCO in advancing Open Science; and, the importance of data and the concept of ‘urban health’ for resilient cities.
Mr. Mushi, presented a paper titled: "Implementing Research Data Management services in the library at the University of Dodoma: Issues, Challenges and Solutions".

Prior to the conference, Mr. Mushi together with other 24 individuals from different countries participated in the International Training Workshop on Scientific Big DATA and Machine Learning from 9th to 18th September. It was a great opportunity to learn from experienced experts from different backgrounds and cultures. Major topics covered were analysis of Big Data using programming language Python and R, Machine Learning, Curation of Big Data, FAIR principles as applied to data, promoting research data management services and data visualization.
It also included life-time experience adventures in academia where participants visited some prominent institutions such as Peking University, H3C computing facility, black matters project at Institute of Physics and visualization lab at School of Computer Science in Peking. It was socially amazing as participants got to meet different people from different countries to share ideas, get connected, learn from each other and tested different food varieties using chop sticks (Chinese spoons).
"I now call upon researchers, academic institutions and research organizations to embrace data management services with FAIR principles to enable curation, sharing and reuse of research data. The knowledge received from the training and conference is free to be shared by all interested individuals and institutions within and outside the country", Mr. Mushi said.
